Proposed new Health Coach Training Micro-credential (Level 4) (24 Credits).
Toitū te Waiora was approached to develop a micro-credential for the training of Health Coaches working in primary health care.
Health Coaches are available to the enrolled population of general practice(s) and community settings as a member of the integrated primary mental health and addiction team. They work closely with the health improvement practitioner and other members of the general practice to support the enrolled population to meet their health and wellbeing needs.
Through the Health & Wellbeing Qualification review process it was identified that the current qualifications were not meeting the specific skill needs of the role of a health coaching and therefore a new micro-credential has been developed using unit standards 29712, 29713 and 27885.
Health coaching is also being incorporated into some primary health care Healthcare Assistant and/or Support Worker roles and this training covers the health coach aspect of those combined roles.
We are now seeking your feedback on the proposed Health Coach Training micro-credential.
