Fire and Emergency qualifications and standards review

Toitū te Waiora is reviewing the following qualifications and standards. We are seeking expressions of interest to help ensure they’re fit for purpose and meet the needs of industry. 

Toitū te Waiora is reviewing the following qualifications: 

Standards:

Alongside the review of qualifications, Toitū te Waiora is developing skill standards to replace priority unit standards

Consultation groups: 

  1. Emergency communications (see below)
  2. Generic Fire Fighting (see below)
  3. Vegetation (see below)
  4. Vegetation – Leadership (see below)
  5. Vegetation – Fire Science (see below)

Anticipated timeline

Qualifications  

  • June- consultation begins on qualifications. 

Standards  

  • July – consultation groups 1-3 begin on skill standard development. 
  • August – consultation groups 4-5 begin on skill standard development. 
  • September – national consultation on developed skill standards.
