Fire and Rescue qualifications and standards review update

Review Date Extended – Fire and Rescue Qualifications

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the following Fire and Rescue Qualifications:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Fire and Rescue Services (Level 2) with strands in Airport, Urban Fire and Rescue Operations, and Vegetation [Ref: 1833].
  • New Zealand Certificate in Fire and Rescue Services (Urban Fire and Rescue Operations) (Level 3) [Ref: 1835]
  • New Zealand Certificate in Fire and Rescue Services (Urban Fire and Rescue Operations) (Level 4) [Ref: 1836]
  • New Zealand Certificate in Fire and Rescue Services (Vegetation) (Level 3) [Ref: 1852]
  • New Zealand Certificate in Fire and Rescue Services (Vegetation) (Level 4) [Ref: 1853]

The review date for these qualifications has now been extended to 13 December 2027. This allows more time for the sector to consider current and future workforce training requirements and how these qualifications may be used. This also allows time for the Fire and Rescue unit standards to be reviewed with these qualifications and for any new skill standard development to align with qualification GPOs.

We appreciate your ongoing support and engagement.
