First Aid as a Life Skill Version 3 now live!

Toitū te Waiora (TTW) is pleased to announce the review of First Aid as a Life Skill. This has been a hugely collaborative project, working in partnership with The Association of Emergency Care Training Providers (AECTP), with support from Hato Hone St John, New Zealand Red Cross, and the New Zealand Resuscitation Council.

First Aid as a Life Skill Version 3 has been developed to outline requirements for training providers, learners, and employers regarding first aid training and revalidation and is based on TTW’s unit standards 6400 series.

The approach of the First Aid as a Life Skill document, is that first aid is a skill that enables individuals to manage the demands and challenges of life. To grow this approach across New Zealand, TTW aims to ensure baseline knowledge and skills required for first aid are consistent across all providers and kept as streamlined as possible.

First Aid as a Life Skill exists as a living document, designed to be a single point of reference for providers, signposting to relevant guidance and legislation. This guidance document will be reviewed bi-annually, with industry oversight, to ensure it is in line with any future sector updates.

Version 3 is now available on the dedicated First Aid as a Life Skill area of the TTW website.
