Health of the older person – Kaiāwhina-led non-complex support plan review micro-credential approved June 13th, 2024 Toitū te Waiora is pleased to announce that NZQA has approved the Health of the older person – Kaiāwhina-led non-complex support plan review (micro-credential) (Level 3, 3 credits). The purpose of this micro-credential is to empower kaiāwhina to undertake a comprehensive non-complex individual support plan review for support of an older adult living in the community. Kaiāwhina will complete this micro-credential under guidance from a Registered Nurse. On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to undertake a comprehensive non-complex individual support plan review for support of older adults living in the community. Learners/ākonga will have knowledge of: Mātauranga Māori, Te Ao Māori, Te Whare Tapa Whā and Whānau. Effective communication strategies including whakawhanaungatanga, to gain insight into a person’s needs. InterRAI tool, Case Mix model of support, and principles of Restorative Care. Holistic areas of review within a non-complex service review. Delegation, direction, and escalation. Learners/ākonga will be skilled in: Applying a non-complex review tool of a support plan. Creating SMART goals and required documentation. Applying the Stop and Watch tool for escalation when concerns are identified in the non-complex review process.
