As you are aware, Toitū te Waiora and all other Workforce Development Councils are being disestablished on 31 December 2025 and new Industry Skills Boards (ISBs) are being established from 1 January 2026. This is part of the Government’s reform of vocational and education training (VET).
There are some important dates you need to be aware of in order to meet NZQA submission timeframes.
If you are thinking of updating a programme or assessment material, we recommend you do this in good time, from June to September.
If there is an excessive number of requests after September, we may not be able to complete these before Toitū te Waiora is disestablished.
It is important you are aware of the following key submission dates:
For programme endorsement and micro-credential support
Any questions regarding programme endorsement and micro-credential support applications, please contact [email protected]
Pre-assessment Moderation, Consent to Assess
Last submission date: Friday 31 October 2025. This is to allow time for requests for further information or support.
Post-assessment Moderation
Final requests will be due 28 October 2025; there will be no extensions to these requests. We will release the request early to ensure providers are prepared in good time.
Any questions regarding pre-assessment moderation, post-assessment moderation and consent to assess applications, please contact [email protected]
There will be no extensions to these submission timeframes, so it is important you factor timeframes into your planning.
We will continue to provide you updates on the VET reform programme as we receive information relevant to you. There is more information about the Government’s VET reform programme on the Tertiary Education Commission’s website.
