We are pleased to introduce a new addition to the 6400 first aid unit standard series. In collaboration with our valued stakeholders, Toitū te Waiora has developed an alternative unit standard to 6402 Provide Basic Life Support (Level 2, 2 credits).
Introducing: Explain Basic Life Support (Level 2, 2 Credits)
Why This Proposal:
We recognise that not everyone has the physical capability to perform basic life support techniques. Therefore, we have developed an alternative. The proposed unit standard offers an opportunity for individuals who understand the principles and techniques of basic life support – but are physically unable to undertake them – to assist others to do so. This initiative aligns with our commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to gain recognition for their knowledge and skills.
