The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide the emergency management sector in New Zealand with a recognised training programme that provides operational knowledge and practical application of New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS).
The Emergency Management sector in Aotearoa New Zealand, responds to incidents of any scale in accordance with the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS). This micro-credential is designed to offer an award to people who are required to support or lead in a single or multi-agency response. They may be working within an Incident Management Team or within a CIMS role or function.
NZQA no longer accept applications for new training schemes, or changes to existing training schemes, and therefore this proposed micro-credential aims to replace – over time –three NZQA approved CIMS training schemes with a single, cohesive micro-credential aligned with current industry standards and training requirements.
The proposed CIMS micro-credential: Applied Coordinated Incident Management (CIMS), Level 4 (7 credits) Link will be assessed against three new skill standards. Please note these skill standards are currently subject to NZQA approval.
By consolidating the various CIMS training schemes into one standardised micro-credential, we aim to set a national standard of consistent CIMS training.
We would appreciate feedback on the proposed micro-credential by 5pm 9 May. Please submit any feedback via the email address [email protected]
