Youth Quals up for Review – Still Time! April 22nd, 2022 Toitū te Waiora is the Workforce Development Council that covers community, health, education, and social services. As part of this role, we are seeking input in the review of: New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 3) [Ref: 2248] New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 4) [Ref: 2449] New Zealand Diploma in Youth Work (Level 6) [Ref: 3803] This review will be informed by engagement through communication and feedback from the sector, research, current legislation and practice frameworks. It will also follow the guidelines outlined in the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. The Level 6 qualification is scheduled for this year, while the Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications are scheduled for review in 2024, but to ensure consistency and progression across the suite, this review will include all 3 qualifications. Pre-review survey Survey closes on May 4, 2022. Youth workers, employers, trainers/educators, community organisations, service providers and any interested individuals are invited to complete a survey on the currently listed Youth Work qualifications. Your response to this survey is essential to inform the review panel in their decision-making to ensure that the reviewed qualifications meet the current and future needs of the sector. Review panel membership Toitū te Waiora is calling for expressions of interest for panel membership to review the Youth Work qualifications. + If you are interested, please fill out this application form and email it to [email protected] by 5pm Wednesday May 4, 2022. Panel members will provide technical expertise in reviewing/developing a cohesive set of qualifications which are fit for purpose. We are looking for people who have: A passion for and a current understanding of the youth work sector Strength in a specific area of youth work practice. Experience working with under-served young people, and spaces of inequity. Collectively, the panel will have: Direct and recent expertise in and experience of the qualifications being reviewed An understanding of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF), and qualification development and review Understanding of programme design and delivery, and assessment. The review panel will, as far as possible, reflect a balance of the Youth Work sector: youth workers, programme providers, educators and trainers, and employers/service providers. Please note: We value your input and are aware how difficult the current COVID-19 climate for everyone working in the education and skills sectors. It would be ideal to meet kanohi ki te kanohi to review the qualifications. However, it is likely that the review will be conducted online. Any decision to meet face-to-face will be guided by the Ministry of Health guidelines. Review updates Updates will be posted on this website.
