New Qualification Approval: New Zealand Diploma in Cardiac Physiological Measurement (Level 6) May 22nd, 2025 We are pleased to announce that NZQA has approved and listed the New Zealand Diploma in Cardiac Physiological Measurement (Level 6) [Ref: 5296-1]. Developed by Toitū te Waiora in conjunction with the Society of Cardiopulmonary Technology (NZ) Inc. This qualification provides a pathway for those seeking to enter or upskill in the cardiac physiological measurement field, supporting the growing need for Cardiac Physiology Technicians in Aotearoa New Zealand. The purpose of this qualification is to prepare graduates with the technical and theoretical knowledge needed to perform specialised roles as frontline healthcare providers. Graduates will be multiskilled and equipped to apply their clinical expertise with cultural sensitivity, supporting people from diverse contexts and backgrounds. Graduates of the diploma will be qualified to work independently or as part of multidisciplinary healthcare teams in roles that include: 12-lead Electrocardiogram (ECG) recording. Ambulatory monitor (Holter/event/blood pressure) fitting, removal/downloading, and triaging results. Basic ECG interpretation. Exercise tolerance testing. What’s next?
