The Toitū te Waiora Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Education, Health and Community Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

Proposed changes to Unit Standard – Describe Te Tiriti o Waitangi, as a bi-cultural approach in a health or wellbeing setting (Level 3) (32418)

Following a request, Toitū te Waiora is proposing minor changes to unit standard 32418 Describe Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Treaty of Waitangi, and a bi-cultural approach in a health or wellbeing setting (Level 3, 6 credits, version 1). 

Why change?  

Toitū te Waiora, the Community, Health, Education, and Social Services Workforce Development Council is updating 32418 Describe Te Tiriti o Waitangi, as a bi-cultural approach in a health or wellbeing setting (Level 3) to align with changes made to The Education Act 2020. 

Changes 

The main changes are: 

  • The Education Act 2020 changed from the Treaty of Waitangi and its principles to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its articles. In version 2 reference to the Treaty of Waitangi has been replaced by Te Tiriti o Waitangi. 
  • Reference to resources were out of date and have been replaced with current reference to resources. 
  • Guidance information has been reworded to align with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Ministry of Health. (2020). Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan 2020-2025.
