Public Consultation: Proposed Civil Defence Emergency Management Skill Standards May 9th, 2025 Toitū te Waiora is undertaking public consultation on draft skill standards in Emergency Management as part of the Civil Defence Emergency Management review. These standards were developed in consultation with subject matter experts from across the industry to meet the needs of the sector and update content to align with current best practice. Proposed Standards The proposed skill standards relate to the following areas of emergency management: Emergency Management Team Leadership Build and lead high-performing teams in emergency management, Level 5 Credits 10 Demonstrate operational leadership in emergency response, Level 5 Credits 10 Lead teams during response, Level 5 Credits 10 Rope Rescue Support rope rescue operations, Level 3 Credits 5 Respond to rope rescue incidents, Level 4 Credits 10 Perform technical rope rescue, Level 4 Credits 10 Use specialist rope rescue techniques in complex environments, Level 5 Credits 10 Community Preparedness and Workplace Emergency Management Support community preparedness for an emergency, Level 3 Credits 1 Develop an emergency management plan for the workplace, Level 6 Credits 10 We welcome your feedback: We would appreciate feedback on the proposed skill standards by 5pm Friday 23 May.
