Toitū te Waiora celebrates the opening of the Tāmaki Makaurau office

We were very fortunate to celebrate the opening of the Tāmaki Makaurau office on Monday, with the support of our mana whenua partner, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.

It was a fantastic morning of karanga, karakia, and whaikōrero, as our new office was blessed. There was kōrero from Donovan Clarke, Max Thompson, and Darrell Lambert, who spoke about the importance of Te Titiri o Waitangi in our mahi, engagement with Māori, and creating a strong foundation to benefit future generations to come.

Opening the office in Tāmaki Makaurau was a key milestone in the establishment of the Workforce Development Councils, with the office catering to all six WDCs. We had strict COVID-19 red setting protocols in place on the day, making sure that safety was paramount. Masks were worn indoors, numbers were largely reduced, vaccine passports checked, and social distancing was in place.

Our Chief Executive Donovan Clarke would like to thank everyone who helped to make it such a special occasion, with a special mention to Dr Troy Coyle and Matthew Tukaki for their kind words of inspiration. And of course, deep gratitude goes to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, who made the whole day possible.

Our new office is at Level 4, 277 Broadway Newmarket.
